Closing the gap between the pace of technology and the pace of change in education.

Growing adoption of personalized learning models and expanded integration of technology in and out of the classroom has opened up new educational opportunities for students and educators. However, shifts in pedagogical approach and variable access to educational technology continue to present challenges. If our vision for the impact of blended and online modalities on academic performance is not tied to the reality of student and teacher experience, how can we effectively adjust educational policy and practice?

Through scholarships, educator prizes, original research, and strategic partnerships with a diverse cross-section of leaders, FBOL is working to close the gap between the pace of technology in daily life and the pace of change in education. By documenting and sharing their stories, our efforts to keep the student, parent, and educator experience central to the conversations about the future of education help ensure that “school” effectively serves all learners and students can achieve their unique and unbounded potential.

Financial support for expanding digital learning experiences

With the Student Scholarship Program and the Innovative Educator Prizes, FBOL extends blended and online learning opportunities for students and educators who, though learning and teaching in diverse geographic and socio-economic conditions, are united by their desire to move beyond the boundaries their current educational models.

Elevating the voices that matter

In sharing their stories, FBOL keeps the student, parent, and educator experience central to the conversations that states, districts, and schools are having about the future of teaching and learning in order to ensure that the needs of a new generation of students are met and that “school” effectively serves all learners.

Sharing insights to connect the dots between policy and practice

Our scholarship and grant recipients serve as one of several data points in our ongoing research into the current opportunities, challenges, and outcomes of developing student-centered learning models. Real-time access to data drawn from real-world student and teacher experience permits rich insight into those tools and strategies that are emerging as most effective in supporting individual learner engagement and academic achievement.
